Four members of the club raced in round 4 of the NCRA, the Northants Cycle Racing Association Handicap Road Race Series on Saturday 24 March.
The races start in groups with 2 minute time gaps between each group, with Category 4 novice riders, and other Cat 4 riders followed by Cat 3 and Cat 2. The race is a course of 3 laps that starts and finishes in Old in Northamptonshire covering 28 miles in total.
St Ives CC was represented by Lee Desborough (cat 2) , Robert Tillott (cat 3), Andy Fountain (cat 3) and Tim Phillips. On this occasion the Cat 4 riders from the first two groups stayed in front and didn’t get caught by the faster groups. Tim Phillips was able to sprint for 7th place. Andy Fountain and Lee Desborough finished with their groups, whilst Rob Tillott also took part but unfortunately had a DNF.
