A strong team of 5 juniors all achieved podiums at the 14th round of the Eastern Region Cyclocross league at Ipswich today. They achieved an amazing two wins, two second places and one third place. Holly Hoy, age 16, came 1st in the Junior Women’s race and Sapphire Curtis, age 12, came first in the U14 girls race. Nathan Gibson, age 15, came 2nd in the U16 Youth race and Orla Kenner, age 9, came 2nd in the U10 girls race. Ruby O’Dell, age 7, came 3rd in the U8 girls race.
Two members of the Go Ride team also raced at the last round of the National Trophy Cyclocross race today at Shrewsbury. This was a very challenging mud bath and technical bike handling skills won out over speed with everyone fighting to stay upright in the mud. Cecilia Hime, age 15, came 12th in the Junior Women’s race and Beatrice Pauley, age 12, also came 12th in the U14 girls race. This follows Beatrice’s fourth place finish last week at the joint Regional Championships for the South East and Eastern region in Gravesend.
On Saturday three younger members of the team raced in the first round of the Muddy Monsters Cyclocross League at Ashwell. Cora Wood, age 7, came 2nd in the U8 race. Cora’s brother Jacob Wood and Ralph Bicknell also took part in the U10 boys race.
