Tim Phillips was fastest in 22.49. Alex Royle of Manchester Bike Club riding a standard road bike was second in 23.44 and Mike Hoy was third in 24.36. Jess Williams was again the fastest women and set another PB. Her time of 25.06 is now the second fastest women’s time and only one second off the course record. Riding the course for the first time this year, Becky Summerell was second in 26.12 and Bea Pauley third in 30.58. The conditions seemed reasonably good and a few riders set seasons best. Especially well done to 15 year old Ollie, who set a massive PB and broke 25 minutes for the first time. Steve was riding his road bike for a change and I had a mechanical with the wheel misaligned and rubbing against the brakes, so slow going but great resistance training!
There are just two more time trials left this year. Next weeks will start slightly earlier with registration from 5.45 to 6.15 and the first rider off at 6.45 to ensure everyone gets round before the light fades. If you’re running late and struggle to make registration cycle up to the start as spare numbers are always available.
IMPORTANT:To ensure the younger or slower riders make it around before the light fades I would be grateful if they can email on the day so can be allocated earlier start times! Its not too late to give the time trials a go if you’ve never tried one. Everyone is welcome regardless of age or ability.
As long as the next two weeks aren’t called off, we will have run 18 events, and therefore a rider’s best 9 events will count towards points competitions. I don’t keep a running total of the number of events people have ridden, so would suggest riding the last two if you think you might be in with a shot of winning one!
