15 members of the St Ives CC raced at the 5th round of Mud Sweat and Gears. This event was also the joint South East and Eastern regional championships. The race was held at Carver Barracks in the village of Debden in Essex. Whilst the sun was shining brightly today a storm over night left the ground muddy and slippery resulting in lots of falls and punctures blighting riders.
Club members enjoyed 2 podiums today. Sam Trotter had another strong race coming 2nd in the youth male race whilst Ruby O’Dell came 3rd in the U9 girls race.
Sapphire Curtis came 4th in the juvenile girls race, Dominic Pauley came 5th in the U12 boy’s race, Beatrice Pauley came 5th in the juvenile girls race, Orla Kenna came 5th in the U12 girls race, Nathan Gibson came 5th in the junior male race, Jack Taylor came 5th in the sport male category, Max O’Dell came 20th in the U9 boys race, Samuel Smith came 25th in the U12 boys race, Nick Smith came 29th in the Veteran male race, Elliott Kenna came 52nd in the open male race. Max, Ralf and Leo Falkner DNF’d due to punctures.
