At the 2nd round of the Mud Sweat and Gears 14 members of the St Ives CC team braced the bitter cold and icy head winds to race at Henham Park in Suffolk.
The team took 6 podiums today including a win, 3 second places and 2 third places.
Ruby O’Dell came 1st in the U9 girls race, Sapphire Curtis came 2nd in the juvenile female race, Nathan Gibson came 2nd in the junior male race Orla Kenna came 3rd in the U12 girls race and Ralf Falkner came 3rd in the juvenile male race. The unluckiest rider today was Sam Trotter who came 2nd in the youth male race. Trotter lead for most of the race but he was out sprinted on the line losing by only 1 second.
Dominic Pauley came 5th in the U12 boys race, Beatrice Pauley came 5th in the juvenile girls race, Leo Falkner came 6th in the open male category, Max Falkner came 9th in the youth male category, Jack Taylor came 13th in the sport male category, Ian Megginson came 14th in the open male category, Mick Curtis came 28th in the grand veteran male category and Elliot Kenna came 54th in the open male category.
Whilst most of the road races were cancelled this weekend due to the icy weather, Nick Hall came 5th in the category 4 male race at the last round of the Full Gas winter circuit series at the Lee Valley Velopark.
The final race of the Muddy Monsters North Cambs cyclocross league was cancelled due to the weather but the end of season results reveal that St Ives CC team came 2nd in the standings.
