Three members of the St Ives CC Go Ride team showed that they could handle the freezing cold, rain and mud at round 13 of the Central Cyclocross league at Rockingham Forest in Corby today. It was a hilly, muddy, slippery course and more powerful riders lost out to riders with strong technical skills.
Cecilia Hime, age 16, reigned supreme in the Junior Womens category. Her win today also means that she has now won the Central League for the Junior Women’s category this season. Team mate Beatrice Pauley, age 12, followed Hime’s lead, winning the U12 girls category by nearly 2 minutes. This means that Beatrice has now won the league for the U14 girls category. Brother Dominic Pauley, age 10, had a great race today. His ability to stay upright in the mud and to whip up the hills quickly gave him his best finishing position of the series, coming 4th in the U12 category.
Yesterday more of the St Ives CC Go Ride Team braved the bitter cold to race in round 3 of the Muddy Monsters Cyclocross league hosted by Welwyn Wheelers. Ralf Falkner, age 11, secured a comfortable win in the U12 category. The other St Ives CC members that raced at Welwyn were Cora Wood, age 8, Jacob Wood, age 11, Max Falkner, age 13 and Daniel Miller, age 12.
