Go Ride had their annual awards ceremony on Saturday 17th December to celebrate a year of success for their junior members.
Trophies were presented to the following children for all their hard work and achievements in the following categories.
The Road Award was won by Holly Hoy, with the runners up being Nathan Gibson and Sapphire Curtis.
The Cyclocross Award was won by Cecilia Hime, with the runners up being Holly Hoy, Ruby O’Dell, Beatrice Pauley and Dom Pauley
The MTB Award was won by Nathan Gibson, with the runners up being Beatrice Pauley and Holly Hoy.
The Time Trial Award was won by Nick Hall, with the runners up being Nathan Gibson, Holly Hoy, and Ben Hall.
The Track Award was won by Jacob Wood, with the runners up being Owain Barton and Angus Lawrence.
The Coaches Award was won by Orla Kenna with the runners up being Ruby O’Dell, Scarlet Brice and Liam Conway.
The Rider’s Rider was won by Sapphire Curtis.
The club¹s new participation and podium initiative has resulted in a record number of children racing this year and the club is now enjoying podium success every week. The top 5 scorers did a combined total of 128 races this year. They were Beatrice Pauley, Ruby O¹Dell, Sapphire Curtis, Dominic Pauley and Oral Kenna.
On the 18th of December, all the juniors that raced achieved a top 5 finish in 2 regional league events.
At Round 15 of the Eastern Region Cyclocross league at Halesworth in Suffolk, Orla Kenna, age 9, was 1st girl in the U10 race but she narrowly missed out on being the overall race winner by only 1 second after a dramatic sprint finish. Holly Hoy, age 16, took the podium in the Junior Women¹s race. Sapphire Curtis, age 12, was 3rd in the U14 girl¹s race and Nathan Gibson, age 15, was 5th in the U16 youth race.
At round 12 of the Central Cyclocross league at Berkhampstead in Hertfordshire Cecilia Hime came 2nd in the Junior Women¹s race. Beatrice Pauley, age 12, had to run the last half-lap with her bike on her shoulder when her derailleur snapped off and jammed in her wheel. All the effort was worth it when she secured a 3rd place finish. Dominic Pauley, age 10, came 5th in the U12 race.
