The St Ives CC Go Ride team has had an excellent day of racing despite all the mud and rain. 9 juniors raced in two different cyclocross events, 8 of them finished in the top 10 of their category.
At the Eastern Region League cyclocross event at Welwyn Garden City today, Holly Hoy, age 16, had a great race taking 2nd place in the Junior girls race. Orla Kenna, age 9, chased the leader down coming 2nd in the U10 girls race and Ruby O’Dell, age 7, came 2nd in the U8 girls race.
At the Central Region League event at Leighton Buzzard, Beatrice Pauley, age 12, came 1st in the U14 girls category.
The other St Ives CC juniors that competed today were: Nathan Gibson, Sapphire Curtis, Angus Lawrence, Edward Lawrence and Dominic Pauley.
St Ives CC coach, Mike Hoy, said “ the kids did amazingly well today despite the slippery conditions. They were able to put all their handling skills to the test, fighting to stay upright at times. The St Ives CC coaches couldn’t be more proud of them”.
