I rode the Dulux London Cycle Revolution this weekend (14 & 15 May), It was a two day event which took the 2000 riders on a circuit of London.
Day 1 was a 102 miles which took us from the start at Waltham Abbey through Central London and into surrey. The route then swung NW to finish at Ascot racecourse where overnight camping had been arranged. You don’t live for 60 years without learning a bit so I stayed in a hotel!
Day 2 was 87 miles (I went off course and added an extra five) and took the riders through the Chiltern hills to Watford and then back to Waltham Abbey. The route was challenging with many steep climbs and some very dangerous descents. The narrow lanes were strewn with potholes and loose gravel with the added difficulty of shade from the trees hiding them until the last moment. It was brakes on all the way down on most of them!
The event was superbly organised by Dulux and is on the list for next year.
