Charlotte Bamford reports on receiving her Gold Award:
I have recently been awarded Gold on my Young Volunteer award which was presented on Sunday at the Reading Go-Ride Conference. I achieved it through my hard work with St Ives and Cambridge Junior Cycling club.
The Young Volunteer award requires me to complete volunteer hours through helping the club by marshalling and officiating at races and helping out at the weekly sessions assisting the coaches. I have clocked up 12 volunteer hours to achieve the Bronze Award, 24 volunteer hours for the Silver Award and now have achieved my Gold clocking up 36 volunteer hours.
Currently I am working towards my Platinum Award which needs 72 volunteer hours to complete the Young Volunteer award and in the process I will become a Young Leader. If anyone is interested in doing the Young Volunteer Award I would recommend it, as it is a good way to give back to the clubs that hold sessions every week which helped me improve but I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
