About 25 riders gathered on another windswept Sunday morning for the club ride to Oundle. Approx. 16 headed off with the A group, rather large & unwieldy but I have taken the decision not to attempt to divide the A’s into smaller groups at the start, nobody listens, everybody wants to ride. It was not too long before the road did the dividing, after taking a quick “comfort” break just after Wood Walton (tough section on the Raveley Road must have stressed a few bladders!), the group split with the climbs & the wind being a cruel judge & Jury, the strong cross winds making life difficult on exposed sections.
I was glad to get to Oundle, and being the school holidays there was space at the Coffee Tavern for a welcome break. Rob & Jenny were already there, along with Mark Nobel, good to see him back out on club run. It seemed to be a day of returning club mates, it was also good to see Ken back out.
The A’s were just leaving the stop as the B’s arrived. No C group this week, Sharon being incapacitated (get better soon Sharon!) Moira was not out either.
On the return again things split up a little. After a failed attempt to impose some order into the group I decided to give up & stop sounding like a nagging old Woman, we settled in for the battle with the cross wind, arriving back at St. Ives at about 12:50.
I hope you had a good ride if you managed to get out. As ever, I’d like to hear how it went for you.
Hope to see you on the road soon.
Best wishes,
Richard
