It’s been a busy two weeks for St Ives CC with good results coming in all disciplines throughout the region.

In road racing Bank Holiday Monday saw Luke Hattersley better last year’s result by winning the Junior race at the Ixworth Criteriums, then gaining an excellent second place in the Invitation B race shortly after. On Gerard MIley and Rory Havis had preceded this by both achieving top 10 results in the Duff Morgan Iceni Velo Road Race near Norwich.

In time trialling, Scott Cousins had an excellent weekend, dominating the Eastern Counties Cycle Association festival, winning both the 20 mile hilly race (46 minutes and 4 seconds) and the 14 mile event in a time of 30.47. He then followed that up last weekend finishing third in the Maldon CC Open 25 mile time trial behind Sean Childs of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA, in a time of 57 minutes and 26 seconds.

Also last weekend, the club achieved good results at last week’s Elveden Road races last weekend, Felix Barker showing that that an amateur man can beat a professional women, taking 4th in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th Category race, but beating Olympic Gold medallist Laura Trott, even if it was her second race of the day! Rory Havis and Charlie Bratt
backed that result up by both finishing in the top 20 of the 4th Category race. Finally, on Sunday Malcolm Smith and Felix Barker both finished in the top 10 of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Category Bob Whitear Memorial Road Race in Norfolk.
