What a great few weeks we are having; Bradley Wiggins wins the Tour de
France and Team GB is doing great in the Olympics, particularly in cycling.
The Olympic MTB race is this weekend at Hadleigh Farm, and everyone is
talking about cycling!
Hopefully this has got you in the mood for a spot of competition because
remember this Saturday 11 August has St Ives CC’s annual Go Ride race in
Hinchingbrooke Park. Hurrah I hear you all cry!
There will be 3 races in total for each rider, comprising a time trial (where
you ride the course by yourself) as fast as you can, followed by two mass
start races, where you all start together with your age group. There will be
winners in each race by age category as well as an overall winner by
category.
We have also changed the structure slightly from previous years in that the
race circuit is shorter and is all in the North Eastern corner of the woods,
close to the car park so we don’t cross any pathways. The course is
approximately 300 m long and is suitable for all levels of rider.
Racing starts at 11am, but you will need to sign on first (from 10am), where
you pay your £4 entry fee, pick up your race number and have your bike
checked for safety. Please note that parent / carer consents will also need
to be signed.
Provisional timings are as follows:

15 minutes for the U12 category and 20 minutes for the U14/U16 category.
Depending on numbers, we may split the groups further on the day.
